Ten thousand school children participated in the 18th edition of the Terry Fox Run flagged off by Jordan Reeves, Consulate General of Canada and Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao, Honourable Governor of Maharashtra, at the Air India building, Nariman Point yesterday.
In addition to the run, there was a special 5km-run organised for friends and families of those affected by cancer, which saw 100 individuals participating in it.
Gul Kripalani, Convenor of Terry Fox Committee (India), said, "There is more awareness now about the Terry Fox Run amongst Mumbaikars. Through the years, awareness about cancer amongst children, especially of the osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) type has increased by leaps and bounds and we are happy to have made a significant contribution to the same."
