3 Mumbai students from humble backgrounds qualify for national level boxing tourney

Eight children have brought laurels to their municipal schools by winning three gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze medals in a state-level boxing championship organised in Bhandara city in the Nagpur Division

Eight children have brought laurels to their municipal schools by winning three gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze medals in a state-level boxing championship organised in Bhandara city in the Nagpur Division.


Shivam Vishwakarma won gold in the primary school division u-14 in the 28-30 kg category. His father is a carpenter and mother is a tailor.


Aman Yadav won gold in the primary school division u-14 in the 42-44 kg category. His father is a driver.


Shivam Vishwakarma, who won gold in the secondary school division u-17 in the 46 kg category. His father is an artist.

The three gold medalists have now qualified for the national level boxing championship. Shivam Vishwakarma was also crowned the 'Best Boxing Champion'.

These students are from Kandivali's R.R.P Municipal Corporation School, Akurli Road Municipal Corporation School, Byculla's Madanpura Urdu Medium School and Govandi's Shivaji Nagar Municipal Corporation School.

The BMC will provide boxing gear to the participants of the national level boxing championship.
