The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Tuesday sorted out the central contract issue with the national footballers for the Asian Cup in Doha in January.

The national footballers were unhappy with the payment structure of the central contract system and had forced the AIFF to have one-on-one meetings to negotiate their deal that came into affect from June 1.

After Tuesday's meeting at the AIFF headquarters, the players were happy and 17 of the 30 probables signed the eight-month contract.

The federation proposed that players, barring a few, would be given 15 percent hike for the eight-month contract, but footballers felt that the hike was too little as the market value of some of the players has gone up by three to four times.

According to AIFF sources, players were given more than the proposed 15 percent and all were happy.

"We are happy with our contracts," a top footballer told IANS.

"Last year Some players had to settle for a lesser value due to different problems but after an outstanding season in the I-League some of the player's net value has gone up three to four folds. The meeting went of well and AIFF accepted all our demands," he said.
