Basle (Switzerland): Top seed Stan Wawrinka was forced to come from a set down against Swiss wildcard Marco Chiudinelli to book his place in the second round of the ATP Swiss Indoors Basle.
The Swiss World No. 3 lost the opening set on a tie-break against his 35-year-old countryman before coming back to win 6-7 (1/7), 6-1, 6-4 to secure a place against American qualifier Donald Young.

Number two seed Milos Raonic, however, is out after the Canadian was beaten by a fightback from Lithuanian qualifier Ricardas Berankis, the World No. 91 who recorded a shock 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win.
Grigor Dimitrov, the sixth seed from Bulgaria, was also on the end of an unexpected defeat, going down 6-7 (9/11), 6-4, 6-4 against Gilles Muller of Luxembourg. Elsewhere,
Florian Mayer of Germany beat France's Benoit Paire 6-1, 6-7 (2/7), 6-4, Spaniard Marcel Granollers defeated home hope Henri Laaksonen 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 and Italian Paolo Lorenzi knocked out Nicolas Mahut of France 6-4, 7-6, (7/4).
Fifth seed David Ferrer is through after British number two Kyle Edmund was forced to retire with injury when trailing 3-2 in the first set against the Spaniard.
