The first race of the weekend did not go in Patel's favour. After Qualifying in a credible third place, he got off to a good start but was hit from behind by another driver causing the Chennai-based racer to fall all the way down to 18th position.
However, in the laps to come, Patel fought his way up and finished 6th on track. He was later elevated to 4th place after penalties were awarded to two drivers in front of him.
In race two, he started in sixth and was soon in second place, behind race leader, Jean-Karl Vernay.
Vernay, who had made contact with another car earlier, was trying hard to defend his position. This allowed Kyong Ouk You and Rahel Frey to catch up and a heated battle ensued for the next few laps.
In the end, Vernay was penalised and the race was won by Frey, followed by Kyong Ouk You and Patel who finished third.
