Tridip top scored with 21 points in East's 95-82 win over West, while Geethu literally towered head and shoulders over her rivals to score 40 points in West's 77-74 victory over East. The All-Star Weekend, organised for the second year, witnesses the best players in the country in action. East held the edge over West throughout the game, thanks to the efforts of Railways duo Vishesh Braghuvanshi and Yadwinder Singh. Tridip, an ONGC player,u00a0 entered the fray in the dying minutes of the second quarter and immediately got into the act with his three-pointers.
For West, Jagdeep Singh Bains scored 22 points, while Gagandeep Singh chipped in with 14. Geethu was adjudged the 'Most Valuable Player'.
Dawer stuns Raja in thriller
Jatinder Dawer of NSCI stunned V 'Raja' Subramaniam by 17 points to storm into the billiards semi-finals of the OB Agrawal Billiards & Snooker Promotional Series, organized by CueCircuit, at the Elphinstone Cricket Club on Sunday.
Trailing in the latter half of the two-hour time format quarter-final encounter, Dawer bounced back to a pulsating 438-421 win to set up his next clash with Aditya Agrawal of Bombay Gymkhana.
Arun Agrawal of Elphinstone Cricket Club set up the other semi-final against former World No 7 Nalin Patel of Bombay Gymkhana. Agrawal fired the competition's second highest break of 178 in the course of his victory.
