India's top snooker player Aditya Mehta, who won the prestigious Arjuna award on Sunday, said that this recognition would help raise the profile of the sport in the country
“It’s been a dream come true for me. We have seen all the greats from our sport going ahead and winning this laurel. I always wanted to be a part of something special. After a long time, a cueist has been selected for this honour and I hope this (award) will help our sport,” Aditya told PTI from Sheffield, UK.u00a0

“Last time, it was in 2005. We really needed something to bring us back on the map, especially with (this sport) not being part of the Olympics and the Asian Games now. It was really tough to keep snooker in the limelight. So, it will help in bringing us back into the picture,” added the Mumbaikar.
