Incheon: Rajiv Arokia yesterday bagged a surprise bronze in men's 400m race in a personal best timing on the second day of the athletics competitions in the Asian Games here.

Arokia clocked a creditable 45.92secs to better his earlier best of 46.13secs which he clocked at the National Inter-State Championships in Lucknow in June. Meanwhile, MR Poovamma bagged a bronze in women's 400m race yesterday.
Poovamma clocked 52.36secs in the final race behind pre-match favourite Oluwakemi Adekoya (51.59secs) of Bahrain and Vietnam's Thi Lan Quach (52.06secs) at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium.

Manju Bala secured a bronze in women's hammer throw to add to the growing medal tally from track and field events.
She committed a foul off her next throw and was never in rhythm later as she threw two 60-plus throws interspersed in between with two very modest efforts of 57.80 and 57.19.
