Big guns to grace CCI snooker tournament

Indian snooker stars Geet Sethi, Yasin Merchant and Aditya Mehta will be joined by snooker legend Jimmy White, Stephen Lee (Current World No 18), Alfie Burden (current IBSF world snooker champion) and Reanne Evans (current Women's World No 1) in the International snooker tournament to be held at Cricket Club of India (CCI)

Indian snooker stars Geet Sethi, Yasin Merchant and Aditya Mehta will be joined by snooker legend Jimmy White, Stephen Lee (Current World No 18), Alfie Burden (current IBSF world snooker champion) and Reanne Evans (current Women's World No 1) in the International snooker tournament to be held at Cricket Club of India (CCI).

However, Asian games gold medallist Pankaj Advani has opted to stay away from the tournament.

Talking on Pankaj Advani's absence from the competition, vice chairman of billiards and snooker, Kekoo Mehta yesterday told MiD DAY: "Advani was very busy playing for the last couple of months and has decided to take some rest. It would have been great if heu00a0 would had been part of this tournament."

The winner will take home R1.5 lakh as prize money while the runner-up will get R one lakh. A prize money of one lakh, forty seven thousand is reserved for any Indian who makes a maximum break of 147 points, known as "147" or "maximum".

The tourney will begin on January 5 and the final will be played on January 23.
