New Delhi: Suraj Rajkumar and Naveen claimed a gold each as Indian grapplers consolidated their position by winning a total of five medals at the Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship here on Saturday. Besides two yellow metals, Indians won two silver and a bronze out of the eight categories. In final bouts in the men’s freestyle, Naveen defeated Uzbekistan’s Rakhmonov Abbos 5-0 in 54kg category, while Rajkumar beat Abubakri Jamshed of Tajikistan 12-2 in 63 kg division.

Reena, Nisha lose
In the female section, Reena and Nisha lost out on a gold-medal finish by going down to their respective opponents in the final bouts. In 52 kg, Reena lost to Japanese girl Okuno Haruna 0-7, while Nisha went down to Uzbek wrestler Esenbaea Nabira 0-4 in 60kg to settle for a silver each. Meanwhile, Sajan bagged a bronze in 76 kg Greco-Roman. India, however, returned empty handed in 58 kg men’s freestyle, 56 kg female wrestling, and 69 kg Greco-Roman categories.
