Cech was carried off in the second-half of Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat after damaging his calf collecting a cross and will be further assessed.
A Blues statement said: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm scans show Petr Cech suffered a tear in a calf muscle during the second half against Inter, and he is expected to be out for three to four weeks."
It is a huge blow for Chelsea ahead of tomorrow's Premier League clash with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Cech was withdrawn earlier from the Czech squad for next week's friendly international away to Scotland.

His injury compounded a night when Chelsea lost their last-16 first-leg tie 2-1 at the San Siro despite outplaying their hosts for much of the game.
"It is a huge blow to lose Petr," admitted Lampard.
"He has been in fantastic form, no-one wants to lose that."
