MMK College played with only 10 men as a couple of their players from last year’s team had crossed the prescribed age limit. Taking advantage of their extra man, St Andrew’s dominated the proceedings.
Cletus opened the scoring in the eighth minute with powerful hit from the top of the striking circle. The young striker doubled his tally in the 17th minute, this time neatly placing his shot in the bottom right corner of goal for 2-0.
In the second half, resumption, St Andrew’s continued their domination but MMK’s defensive approach ensured no more goals were scored.
“This is a very satisfying win because we have not had the opportunity to practice together for long due to the rains,” said St Andrew’s coach Sidney Alexander.
“They were a man short, so we made sure we passed the ball around more to tire them out. We used the long ball a
lot and that helped too,” said Cletus.
