The Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) boys' U-14 Div IV inter-school football league's fixtures were disturbed yesterday after an unknown person called up St Gregorios High School (Chembur) informing them that their match against DY Patil International, scheduled for 11.30am, has been postponed to 2pm.
However, when the St Gregorios physical training teacher checked with the MSSA authorities he was told that there was no postponement. The teacher then informed the coach about the crank call, but it was already too late by then for the players to reach the venue for the 11.30am kick-off.
St Gregorios requested MSSA to reschedule the match for another day, but were told that they could only do so if their opponents DY Patil International, who were already at the venue, would agree for the same.

Thankfully, DY Patil co-operated and the match is now re-scheduled for Monday.
“This is not the first time that a school has got a crank call regarding the change in timing. Earlier, three other schools got calls like this.
But their coaches called the venue in-charge to clarify and the problem was fixed. I would request the coaches to clarify with me in case this happens in future,” said an MSSA official.u00a0
