Defending champions Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy had to overcome two rain interruptions besides a strong challenge from Swede Johan Brunstrom and Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands Antilles to win 6-3,
6-7, 7-5 and enter the second round of the men's doubles at the French Open yesterday.
Third seeds Paes and Dlouhy, took Set One 6-3 in 31 minutes. However the second saw two rain interruptions -- in the eighth game Brunstrom and Rojer saved two break-points to go into a rain break at 4-4. The players returned but left the court again on 6-6. When they got back on court for the third time Brunstrom and Julien Rojer won the tie-break 8-6.
The decider saw games going with serve, till the Indo-Czech pair broke in Game 12 to win 7-5.
