A 7-0 result is surely much more than just a "satisfactory performance", but try telling that to Leslie Machado, coach of U-16 Division I defending championsu00a0 Don Bosco, Matunga.
Machado was not too impressed with his team's 7-0 victory over Dominic Savio, Andheri in yesterday's MSSA inter-school match at Azad Maidan. A hat-trick by Merick Fernandes followed by au00a0 braceu00a0u00a0 by Quentin Britto and a goal each from Janam Mehta and Kruthik Hanagavadi saw the Matunga lads dominate the Andheri team.
Machado however, felt his boys could have done better. "The boys played well but I am not fully satisfied with the performance. I expected a better result in our season opener. Being defending champions, a lot is expected of us and today the boys missed a lot of passes and scoring opportunities. The opposite team was weak and rather than us getting the goals, it was more a case of them gifting it to us. We should have won 12-0," said Machado.
Striker Merick Fernandes however was satisfied with the result. "We are working very hard to try and live up to the champion's tag. We expected more goals today but considering it is our first game, we are satisfied with the result. Also, we rested some of our key players after leading 5-0 in the first half, else the victory margin could have been bigger," he said.
