Usama Parkar and Azim Shaikh struck gold for Rizvi Springfield, Bandra, scoring unbeaten double centuries to post 869 for five in reply to Christ Church, Byculla's paltry first innings score of 22. The defending champs won by an innings and 808 runs as Christ Church could only manage 39 in their second innings. Prolific Arman Jaffer scored 156.

Cricket in the blood
Usama, the son of former Mumbai Ranji Trophy player Zulfiqar Parkar, scored a splendid 277 while his partner Azim plundered 229. The duo put on 512 for the sixth wicket. Interestingly, neither of them had scored even a fifty before. Usama's highest score was 38 whereas Azim's best was 43.

Batting at No 7, Usama's 277 came off just 201 balls. Though disappointed on missing out on a triple ton, he was satisfied that the match was wrapped up inside two days. "We also participate in other tournaments. It's good that we completed the game within two days as we will get proper rest for the next game," he said.

Mum passed away
Wicketkeeper-batsman Usama used to represent Anjuman-I-Islam when he started out, but moved to Chiplun to stay with his mother.

However, after his mother succumbed to cancer last year, he returned to Mumbai, and chose to play for Rizvi.
