England's Nick Matthew capped off a remarkable week by bagging a double gold medal on the concluding day of squash competition at the Siri Fort Sports Complex. Last Friday, the Sheffield-born player had won the
singles title.

Matthew partnering Adrian Grant warded off a fiercely determined challenge by Aussies David Palmer and Stewart Boswell to win the men's doubles final 11-9, 6-11, 11-5.

Matthew kayoed the Aussies. The 30 year-old World No 2's attacking game brooked no answers from Palmer-Boswell. At times, his pick-ups were audacious.

"To win two CWG gold medals is something I dreamt of as a child. Full marks to Adrian, he really upped the tempo in the decider. I will now strive to win the World Open and try to become the World No 1," signed off Matthew.

Kiwi Joelle King had her hopes of a double thwarted by Aussies Kasey Brown and Cameron Pilley in the mixed doubles final. She had earlier won the women's doubles gold medal with Jaclyn Hawkes.

Nicol David added to her singles gold by clinching the bronze medal in the mixed doubles.
