Force India looked in the hunt for a doubles points finish but an opening lap collision between Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso put paid to their hopes. The German, however, did well to cross the line in 11th place after starting the 78 lap race from the same position.
Perez's result capped off a positive weekend for Force India, who had struggled for pace in the previous round in Barcelona.
His six points here also pushed the team up to sixth spot in the team standings with 17 points, four adrift of fifth placed Sauber.
