F1: Vijay Mallya hails Force India's consistency

London: Force India co-owner Vijay Mallya has challenged drivers Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg to spray more champagne over the second half of the Formula One campaign.

The Silverstone-based marque are currently enjoying the best season in the team's history at present, with 98 points collected from the opening 10 grands prix.

That figure is just 11 points shy of Force India's record haul of 109 from a 20-race season in 2012, so it stands to reason Mallya's outfit should smash that haul with nine races to run this term.

Only Perez, though, has managed to figure in the top three when third in Bahrain, representing only the team's second podium from their six-and-a-half years in the sport.

Hulkenberg has impressed, however, scoring points in all 10 races and has so far comfortably outscored Perez by a total of 69 to 29.

Mallya could not be happier at present as he said: "We are in a good place, and the whole team should feel proud of our performance in the first half of the season.

"We've scored 39 points more compared to the first half of last year, and that's an indication of our consistency.

"We've picked up points in every race and we're in the middle of a very close fight in the championship.
