Squash ace Joshna Chinappa yesterday blamed the sport's low-key status in India on the fact that funds did not reach "deserving players".
“I don’t think there is dearth of government funds for popularising squash in the country but it is necessary to ensure that the available fund reaches the deserving players. If that happens, I am sure the scenario will change,” Chinappa said.
Chinappa added that squash’s popularity would get a shot in the arm if it was included in the Olympics from 2020. u00a0“...if squash is included in Olympics, then the game would attract new talent and sponsors,” she said.
