President of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) -- a member of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) -- Langtombong Tamba has been sentenced to death after he was found guilty of treason, conspiracy to murder and participating in a coup four years ago to overthrow the democratically elected Government in Gambia.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Tamba was one of seven people sentenced to death after being found guilty of trying to oust that country's leader, President Yahya Jammeh. Tamba is the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF).
