Anjuman-I-Islam English were added to list of Swadhyay Bhavan, Christchruch, IES Raja Shivaji and IES VN Sule Guruji, who have suffered at the hands of Rizvi Springfield's prolific batting duo of Armaan Jaffer and Prithvi Shaw.
Yesterday on Day Three of the four-day inter-school Giles Shield final at the Vengsarkar Academy, Oval Maidan, the duo shared a splendid 379-run stand for the second wicket to set an uphill task for Anjuman.
u00a0Skipper Prithvi struck his second double hundred of the tournament, while his partner, Armaan (166) missed out on the double ton after getting out hit-wicket. Their scores helped the defending champions gain a huge lead of 339 runs and left Anjuman in a hopeless position with just a day to go.
Prithvi and Armaanu00a0 have accumulated loads of runs in the run-up to the final. While Prithvi has scored 756 runs in the last five games, Armaan has amassed a staggering 1158 runs.
u00a0Twelve-year-old Prithvi who has been leading the Rizviu00a0 side across the last three years, heaped praise on his No 3 batsman Armaan. According to him Armaan is in a different league altogether. "What do I say about him (Armaan)? He is pure class. He looks so calm and composed in the middle that it makes everyone sit up and take notice. He is fantastic to say the least," Prithvi said.
u00a0Reciprocating the admiration, Armaan lavished praise on Prithvi. "He's been a very good leader. Be it in his field settings or bowling changes, he has led the team perfectly," said Armaan.
