Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) sealed the semi-final berth after defeating Green Bombay High School (Kurla) by an innings and 29 runs on Day Two of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association-organised Giles Shield Elite Division third round tie at New Hind SC, Matunga yesterday.

The Kurla school, resuming on their overnight score of 72-8, were bowled out for 99 in their first innings. Arun Gupta (3-40) and Moin Khan (3-31) were pick of the bowlers for Rizvi.

Following on, Green Bombay were skittled out for 144. Aves Khan top-scored with 53 for the Kurla outfit. Mohit Tanwar and Omkar Khot bagged figures of 4-49 and 3-39 respectively.

Rizvi had declared their first innings of 272-8 on Day One.

VMPS' Shubham, Ashwin shine
A combined effort from off-spinner Shubham Baraskar (5-44) and skipper Ashwin Yadav (53) helped VPMS Vidya Mandir (Dahisar) beat Gundecha Education Academy (Kandivli) on the basis of their first innings lead at Parsee Gym yesterday.

VMPS scored 221 before Gundecha made 156 in their first innings. The Dahisar school were 140-9 at the end of Day Two.

Balmohan Vidyamandir win Aditya Jadhav's all-round effort helped Balmohan Vidyamandir (Dadar) win on the basis of their first innings lead against Cathedral & John Connon School (Fort) at PJ Hindu Gymk. Earlier, Aditya scored 69 as Balmohan made 193 in their first innings, thus surpassing their opposition total of 177. Aditya then bagged figures of 4-36 to help his team bowl out Cathedral & John Connon for 102. The left-armer finished with a match haul of 11 wickets.
