HI lifts ban on Sandeep, Sardara

Hockey India (HI) yesterday lifted the two-year bans imposed on drag-flicker Sandeep Singh and midfielder Sardara Singh yesterday, and the duo are set to join the national camp today.

HI had banned the duo for two years after they quit midway through the national camp in Bangalore last month ahead of the Asian Champions Trophy, citing personal reasons. The two players though appealed against the ban following which HI have given them a "last chance."

HI executive director Anupam Gulati said: "Sandeep and Sardara appeared before the Appeals Committee and expressed their unconditional regret. Keeping their age, performance and future potential in mind the committee decided to revoke the ban.
