Captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Vedprakash Jaiswal's 224 helped IES VN Sule Guruji (Dadar) amass a formidable 367 for 4 declared against Gokuldham (Goregaon) on the opening day of the second round Giles Shield Elite division at Karnatak SA, Cross Maidan yesterday.
At the nearby Western Railways pitch, Jas Ganiga scored 171 for IES New English School against Pawar Public HS. Anurag Nair too scored a century to help IES post 387 for 3 declared. Pawar PS were reeling at 58 for five at close of play.

Skipper Shubham Mestry's century (140) helped Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) post a mammoth 414-8 against Vidya Mandir (Dahisar) when stumps were drawn at Parsee Gymkhana yesterday.
Shubham took the attack to the opposition and in the process, justified his captain's call to bat first on a good pitch. He was ably partnered by Abhinav Singh, who scored 80 before being caught by Ashwin Yadav off his own bowling.
The duo put on a 117-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Mayank Teotia scored a valuable 48 to add to Rizvi's tally, before being stumped by wicketkeeper Ayush Karaval. The Bandra school looked to bat the opposition out of the game. Off-spinner Swarnil Shinde was the pick of the bowlers for the Dahisar outfit scalping 3-54 in his 10 overs spell.
