When tennis ace Roger Federer and his wife Mirka attended the wedding of Pippa Middleton, the younger sister of Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, recently, many wondered what was the connection between the Swiss tennis ace and the bride.

Federer and Mirka stole the show as shutterbugs just couldn't get enough of them.

Now, the reason why Federer was a special guest, has emerged. Pippa is a huge tennis fan and met Federer at Wimbledon a few years ago. According to reports in the British media, she adores the Swiss tennis star and makes it a point to watch his matches at the All England Club.

"I first went to Wimbledon when I was eight and a very keen tennis player. I acted on my childish tennis dreams and bought myself a postcard of the women's championship trophy, on which I wrote, 'I will win this one day,' with my signature below," Pippa once revealed.

It is learnt that Pippa and Federer immediately struck up a friendship and have been in touch ever since. Federer even did an interview for Vanity Fair while Pippa was an intern there. Talk about a fan's dream coming true!
