Belgium also finished with seven points after they beat South Africa 2-1 later in the day but are behind Michael Nobbs' men in the group thanks to India's superior goal difference.
Tushar Khandekar and Yuvraj Walmiki scored two goals each. Shivendra Singh, Manpreet Singh and Birender Lakra added to the tally.
India will take on Pool B's fourth-placed Malaysia in the quarter-finals on Thursday. The other quarter-finals will see Pan-American champions Argentina play Poland while Belgium are pitted against Canada and South Africa will meet Japan.
