How Ajit Agarkar foxed Virender Sehwag in Irani Trophy

Not many can plan Virender Sehwag's dismissal and very few can execute the plan.

On Day One of the season-opening Irani Cup, seasoned Mumbai speedster Ajit Agarkar showed he belongs to the minority. Agarkar cut short Sehwag's comeback to first-class cricket in the fifth over of the day. He started the over with a well-directed bouncer, which Sehwag ducked under. The very next ball saw the Mumbai bowler inviting Sehwag for a drive. But the short ball earlier had done the trick. Even though Sehwag went for an expansive cover drive, his back foot remained stationary and the ball sneaked through the gap to uproot the off stump.

"No bowler in the world can set up Viru's dismissal," Agarkar told MiD DAY from his hotel room in Nagpur.

"But having played with him for so long, you know what areas to bowl to and just hope to be lucky. I had the luck in my favour today." Mumbai have the upper hand at the end of Day One with skipper Wasim Jaffer (24 n o) adding 38 runs in the company of Sahil Kukreja (10 n o) for the opening wicket.
