Force India investigating suspension problem after Mexican’s accident
Force India withdrew both its cars from practice for tomorrow’s Hungarian Grand Prix as it investigated a massive crash for Mexican driver Sergio Perez.

The accident happened just under an hour into the 90-minute opening session yesterday morning when Perez’s Force India ran wide across the exit of the Hungaroring’s turn 11 before careering across the track with a suspected suspension failure.

The car struck the barrier on the inside of the track and rolled coming to rest upside down. The Mexican was unhurt in the crash.
Given the severity of the accident, Force India chose to withdraw Hulkenberg’s car from the second practice session as a precaution while it investigated what caused the crash.
“Sahara Force India will not take part in this afternoon’s second practice session at the Hungaroring as the team continues to investigate a suspension problem which caused Sergio Perez to crash this morning,” the team said in a statement.
Significant damage
“Sergio’s car suffered significant damage to the bodywork, wings and floor, and repairs are ongoing. As a precaution, the team has chosen not to run Nico Hulkenberg this afternoon.”
The team also said they would work hard to get to the bottom of the problem and find a solution in order to be ready in time for today’s final practice session and qualifying.
“The team will work hard to fully understand the cause of the failure and find a resolution in order to be ready for Saturday’s free practice session,” the statement said.
Despite his accident, Perez ended the session eighth-fastest with 14 laps on the board. Teammate Hulkenberg was 13th.
