Earlier, Mumbai’s Lee Chong Wei beat Awadhe’s Gurusai Dutt 21-15, 21-7 in the first men’s singles tie to make it 1-0 for Mumbai. PV Sindhu then beat Baun 21-16, 21-16 for 1-1. Awadhe’s men’s doubles pair of Markis Kido and Mathias Boe then beat Mumbai’s Pranav Chopra and Sumeeth Reddy 21-15, 21-10 to make it 2-1. But moments later, Mumbai’s Ivanov beat K Srikanth 21-20, 21-19 to level the match at 2-2 and ensure the mixed doubles clash would decide the outcome of the match.u00a0

PV Sindhu was ecstatic after her team’s win. “It’s a total team effort and all credit to them,” she said. When asked what she thinks of clashing with Saina in the final, the teenager replied: “I’ll just give it my best shot.”


Shuttle Express finale at NSCI
The Indian Badminton League Shuttle Express School Championship will conclude with the national finals across August 30-31. The winners and runners-up of each of the six cities (Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore) in boys and girls singles U-16 will compete in the finals.
