A day after mid-day highlighted the shambolic conditions which players had to endure at Goregaon's Anna Bhau Sathe ground during Mumbai University's inter-college football tournament, the varsity has decided to host the final and the third-place match at the University Pavilion at Marine Lines.

Both these matches, to be held on Thursday, were earlier scheduled at the Goregaon venue. Uttam Kendre, Mumbai University's Director of Sports, had told this paper on Monday that the University Pavilion was undergoing some work which is why matches were being hosted at the Anna Bhau Sathe ground.
Nevertheless, the two semi-finals were held at the Goregaon venue yesterday with Rizvi College beating St Andrew's 3-0 and Pillai A.S.C triumphing 2-0 over Thakur College, presumably because there was no time to shift the matches to the Marine Lines venue.
Ram More, St Andrews' college's Director of Sports, said: "Uttam Kendre spent around three hours at the ground and saw both the semi-finals today. The final and the third-place matches have been shifted to the University Pavilion now. This is all thanks to mid-day."
"There were many volunteers at the ground today. Kendre made them remove the stones from beside the ground before the match. Plenty of water was also provided to the students," said a coach who added that he did not spot a stretcher or an ambulance at the venue. Kendre hung up when contacted for his reaction.
