Third seed Harinderpal Singh Sandhu upset second seed Siddharth Suchde to set up a title clash with India No 1 and men's top seed Saurav Ghosal in the 58th Senior National Championship & 67th CCI-Western India Open Squash Tournament at the Cricket Club of India yesterday.
Third seed Harinderpal Sandhu sealed his place in the final following an impressive 11-7, 11-9, 11-9 win over India No 2 Suchde.
After taking a 2-0 lead, Harinderpal was ahead 9-7 in the crucial third set when Suchde drew level to keep his hopes alive. But Harinderpal snatched the lead again with a winner and struck another to take the game and match.
World No 22 and title favourite Ghosal remained had no trouble beating Gaurav Nandrajog of Delhi 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 in the other semi-final.
India No 1 Joshna Chinappa and second seed Saumya Karki will contest the women's final.
