St Francis D'Assissi (Borivli) midfielder Jash Shah, like any other footballer, hates to be substituted. However, in the last two matches he's been taken off the field in the second half as he has not been able to get among the goals.
Yesterday though, Jash finally found the net, in a 2-0 win over Christ Church (Byculla) in a Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) U-16 Div I inter-school match at Azad Maidan. Danny John scored the opener for D’Assissi after which Jashu00a0doubled the lead in the second half.u00a0

“My coach has high expectations from me after my good performance last year. From Match One, I was expected to score this time too, but unfortunately I couldn’t.
Thereafter, in our second and third matches, I was taken off in the second half. Our coach Gokul (Kanchan) sir though was unwell and missed this match. So, I took my chance and played the entire duration and scored,” Jash told MiD DAY yesterday.
The 14-year-old is now hoping his coach will think twice before substituting him next time round. “I can’t wait to share this news with my coach. I will call him rightaway. I hope after today’s goal, he does not take me off in the second half henceforth.”
