Melbourne: Indian squash players Kush Kumar and Mahesh Mangaonkar made a winning start in the USD 15,000 Victorian Open here yesterday.

Fresh from his win in the Tasmania Open, Kumar took the centre stage when he showed the second seed Nasir Iqbal and ranked 49, the exit in four games in the first round.
The Indian showed his fighting qualities as also his skills to shock the experienced Pakistan player who had not long ago beaten India's top player Saurav Ghosal.
The unseeded Kush won 12-10, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7. For third seed Mangaonkar, it was an easy day in office as he went past the wild card entrant Thomas Calvert of Australia in straight games 11-5, 11-6, 11-5.
