Ravinder Singh, who triggered off India's gold medal-winning exploits in wrestling yesterday, had an embarrassing moment minutes after bringing glory to the country.
After beating England's Christopher Bosson by a 9-0 margin, he did a quick lap of honour inside the KD Jadhav Stadium to acknowledge the cheers of the crowd.
However, minutes later, as he prepared to leave the arena for the mandatory dope test, he was mobbed by the media, officials and volunteers.
The group refused to let him go for a good 10 minutes bombarding him with questions, officials trying to hug him and volunteers posing for a photograph with him.
When push came to shove, the Haryanvi yelled: "Please see this WADA (World Anti-doping Agency) card in my hand. I have to go for my dope test. Please let me go to pee (and handover the urine sample to WADA for testing)."
The media relented and the officials backed off. After all, who wants a dope controversy.
