Lilavati Podar win Mumbai leg of Rising Stars tourney

Lilavati Podar beat Don Bosco (Matunga) 4-2 via tie-breaker to win seconc edition of the Airtel Rising Stars U-16 football talent hunt at Priyadarshani Park yesterday.

In the penalty shoot-out Lilavati Podar’s Sanath Valladares, Apurva Amberkar, Ahmed Lakhani and Zoraius Kamdin were on target as the school were awarded as cash prize of Rs 30,000 and a trophy for their effort. Don Bosco were awarded Rs 20,000 and a trophy.



Fab four: Don Bosco’s (Matunga) Marc D’Souza, Sanath Valladares, Ritik Raj Srivasta (both Lilavati Podar) and St Andrew’s Akram Khan were declared the four Rising Stars in the Mumbai leg of U-16 football talent hunt at Priyadarshani Park yesterday


The talent hunt saw Don Bosco’s (Matunga) Marc D’Souza, Sanath Valladares, Ritik Raj Srivasta (both Lilavati Podar) and St Andrew’s Akram Khan declared as the four Rising Stars.

They will join other players from Bangalore, Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Goa and Hyderabad in a five-day final selection trial that will take place in Goa. Eleven players will eventually get a chance to attend a a week-long training camp at the Manchester United Soccer School.u00a0
