Despite being superior in all aspects of the game, the Matunga outfit initially found it difficult to break through the Borivli team's defence. Defender Sahil Sawant of Don Bosco (Borivli) impressed with his timely tackles at the back for the newly promoted side.

However, with the game heading towards a goalless draw, substitute Lance Fernandes broke the deadlock in the 47th minute when his high cross was fumbled into the goal by Borivli goalkeeper Nishant Gawade.

No on the backfoot, the Borivli side disintegrated, and conceded another goal in the very next minute when Atharva Gatkar ran solo before slotting the ball past the 'keepeer.

Aryan Hukumchand completed the win late in the 60th minute with a close range finish. Don Bosco coach Leslie Machado said that the win was a relief as they have a tough Group B and every point is important.

"Today's game was very important. We are in a very tough group. I'm glad we managed to get three points. During half-time, I was worried that this might end in a draw, but we managed to find goals later," said Machado, who has been with the school team for over two decades.
