Rory McIlroy has pulled out of next week's French Open as expected following his first major victory

Rory McIlroy has pulled out of next week's French Open as expected following his first major victory.

The 22-year-old is now set to make The Open at Sandwich on July 14-17 his next start.

World number three and US PGA champion Martin Kaymer is now the only top-10 player in next week's field and there are only nine from the top 50.
