The 27-year-old was plagued by gearbox issues in China and Singapore, anti-rollbar problems in Japan and Korea, and then a fuel pressure failure in Abu Dhabi. “I’ve been doing my best this year, but it’s been a tough one because we’ve just had lots and lots of problems. We’ve not done a good enough job collectively to have won the championship,” he added.
