India's junior boxers finished with one silver and two bronze medals at the the just-concluded World Championships in Albena, Bulgaria, which is a fine show.
However, coach India’s junior and youth women’s team coach I V Rao felt the medal count could have been higher if the nation had some official presence.
Nikhat Zareen (54kg), won silver while Simranjeet Kaur (60kg, youth) and Asha Roka (48kg, junior) clinched bronze.
Rao said most of the close decisions were close and the team paid the price of not having any officials with them due to the the ongoing international suspension imposed on Indian boxing federation by the international body.
“We were allowed to participate but we could not complain or file a protest if we felt a decision should have gone our way. If a couple of decisions had gone our way, we could have easily clinched 2-3 more medals,” Rao told PTI. u00a0
