World cycling's governing body UCI confirmed yesterday they are demanding the opening of disciplinary procedures against Tour de France winner Alberto Contador of Spain, who it was revealed, failed a drugs test.

This action would be taken by the Spanish cycling federation whose decision it would be whether to sanction the rider.
Contador claims he ate contaminated meat, although skeptics suggest he may have inadvertently put clenbuterol back into his system via an illicit and performance-enhancing blood transfusion.
