The Being Human Tour De Mumbai-Mumbai Cyclothon, the first of its kind event in the city to be held today, has also given the Cycling Federation of India a chance to prove its organisational skills

"We want to show the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) that we are ready to host even bigger eventsu00a0 in the future. We want to promote cycling not only among athletes but also the masses. By organising such an event, we can create an interest and attract sponsors through which we can develop infrastructure," said race director David Mcquaid.
"The sport becomes popular when children ride bikes and start racing. You need international riders coming here but the base is to train children. With a country as big as India, I am sure there will be athletes good enough to compete with the best European riders in the coming years," said Eddy Merckx, a five-time Tour de France winner.
