Mumbai University women's cricket team earned their sixth consecutive West Zone title when they defeated Barkatullah University, Bhopal by nine wickets in the West Zone inter university women's cricket tournament, organised by Rizvi College of Arts, Science & Commerce along with Mumbai University, under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association at MIG Cricket Club (Bandra) yesterday.

Electing to field, Mumbai bowlers bundled out Bhopal for a paltry 59 in 29 overs. Leg spinner Manashree Gawande claimed three wickets for nine runs, while Mugdha Joshi and Humaira Kazi claimed two wickets each.
22 runs in extras
However, the Mumbai bowlers struggled to maintain their line and length as they conceded 22 runs in extras.
The hosts chased down the target in 15.3 overs, losing just one wicket. Bhakti Tamore scored unbeaten 35 which included six boundaries.
Mumbai University and Barkatullah University along with six other teams will now play in the All-India inter-university tournament starting tomorrow in the city.
