She became the second Indian after Anju George to enter the final of the IAAF World Championships. Anju won a bronze medal in long jump in 2003.

Mayookha, who was sixth in the list of eight competitors for the finals, made the cut in her third attempt Saturday.

The first three to qualify were Maurren Higa Magg of Brazil (6.86m), Nastassia Mironchyk-Ivanova of Belarus (6.80m) and Darya Klishina of Russia (6.77m).

Mayookha was India's star at the Asian Athletics championship at Kobe in July, where she won gold in the long jump (6.56m) and bronze (14.11m) in the triple jump and qualified for the worlds. The Kerala girl's best this season is 6.63m at Bangalore.
