The Pesi Shroff-trained Temerity, given a superb ride by Neeraj Rawal, pulled off a successful wire-to-wire bid over the nine-furlong trip of the Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia Trophy (Gr 2), the feature event of yesterday's eight-race card. Many an eyebrow was raised when Rawal astride Temerity went for the lead immediately after jumping out; especially, as she was shouldering the top weight of 59 kg, giving 10 kg to Winter Renaissance who was at the other end of the scales. However, there was never an anxious moment along the way as she easily made every post of the trip a winning one, finally sparing three parts of a length to Whomakestherules (Suraj Narredu up) whose all-out efforts to challenge the winner were rendered futile.

Change of strategy
Bergis Minoo Desai, partner of Shyam Ruia in whose silks Temerity runs, frankly admitted in a post-race chat that the change of strategy was deliberate, and not accidental. He said: "We thought if someone else dictates the pace, the others will get some chance to exploit it, so we decided to let her set her own pace." He was, however, quick to admit the idea was fraught with danger, especially because of the long, nine-furlong trip of the race, and praised Rawal for pulling it off.
Eye on Invitation
About Temerity's next target, Desai said, "The next big target will of course be the Invitation Cup." Temerity had won the Invitation Cup in March.
