The wait is not yet over.
Sharad Pawar, the current Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president, was expected to declare his decision to contest the July 15 MCA polls yesterday, but has not gone public yet.
According to sources in the MCA, he will make his decision known in a couple of days. "He (Pawar) has had enough of heading the association, but we (members) have requested him to contest the elections. He is thinking over it now," a source told MiD DAY. last night.
A meeting at Pawar's residence was held yesterday to discuss late nominations from former cricketers Balwinder Singh Sandhu and Karsan Ghavri. The cut-off date for filing the nomination was June 14 before 5pm, but their nomination came by 7pm, informed the source.
"A resolution was passed that entries will be accepted by 5pm and all members were communicated in writing. Since we did not get their nominations on time, we haven't accepted them. We met Mr Pawar to discuss the legal view on the issue," the source said.
Sandhu did not wish to comment on the issue. "I will speak when my time comes," he said.
