Despite the encouragement from the star golfer, Vonn finished 14th in the giant slalom event — her final race of the 2015 worlds, where she captured just a single bronze medal in super-G event and nearly broke down in tears after being disqualified from the Alpine combined race on Tuesday.
Words of wisdom
Vonn revealed that her boyfriend had some advice for her in between giant slalom runs. “He said ‘Let’s end on a positive note. Let’s show them what you can do,’” Vonn said.
Woods himself has endured a wretched run of form in recent times, which saw his ranking plummet to 62 in the world.
“Right now, I need a lot of work on my game and to still spend time with the people that are important to me,” he said. “My play, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I’ve said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I’m ready, I’ll be back,” he had said earlier on Thursday. His indefinite break from the sport comes just weeks after he shot the worst round of his career — an 82 at the Phoenix Open.
Woods and Vonn have been dating each other for nearly two years now and the latter has been spotted cheering the golfer on multiple ocassions.
