Sahara Force India driver Paul di Resta keen to make most of Saturday's qualifying as Valencia Street Circuit offers little room for overtaking
Sahara Force India driver Paul di Resta wants the team to push extra hard in Saturday’s qualifying and gain a high grid position, as he fears the tricky Valencia Street Circuit won’t allow any major upward movement on the grid during Sunday’s European Grand Prix.

“It’s a street circuit with a lot of corners. Overtaking has been difficult here in the past. So the grid position makes a big difference. Qualifying becomes very important. We’ll get a better idea of the weekend ahead tomorrow (Friday’s practice sessions),” the 26-year-old Scot told Indian journalists via a telephonic conference yesterday.
With Mercedes and Ferrari hot on his heels, Di Resta is even more motivated to perform better for his team. “It’s no secret that I want to be in a winning car, with a championship winning team. (Right now) I’m doing my best to help the team. I have a contract with Sahara Force India and have 13 races to go. It’s a young team and I’m gaining a lot of experience,” said Di Resta, ahead of the season’s eight race. The 2012 season has witnessed a historic seven different winners until now.
Sahara Force India narrowly missed out on points at the Canadian GP earlier this month. Di Resta finished 11th, one place ahead of teammate Nico Hulkenberg, who is confident his team’s hard work will pay rich dividends in the future. “Each weekend we try to do the best. Currently we are not in a position to win a race, but everything can change from one weekend to another. We got to keep working and a good result could come our way,” said the 24-year-old German.
Hulkenberg is an ardent fan of his country’s national football team and he makes time to follow their matches despite his tight schedule. Germany are currently playing in Euro 2012 and face Greece in a quarter-final clash tonight. “I’m a big supporter of Germany. I watch their games with my fingers crossed. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s (Friday) match,” he said.u00a0
