Nadia Petrova prevailed in an all-Russian semi-final yesterday to reach the final of the Pilot Pen Tennis event, the final hardcourt tune up to the US Open.
Eighth-seeded Petrova snuck past her unseeded compatriot Maria Kirilenko 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in just under two hours at the Connecticut Tennis Center.
Petrova's opponent in the final will either be top-seeded Dane Caroline Wozniacki or fourth-seeded fellow Russian Elena Dementieva.
The 28-year-old 19th-ranked Petrova will appear in her 20th career final and seek a 10th championship. The former top-10 player hasn't won a title since 2008.
