Usama scored 126 to put Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) in a commanding position on the second day of the Harris Shield final against IES V N Sule Guruji (Dadar). His sixth wicket partnership of 194 runs with Vikasdeep Yadav (103) helped the Bandra school put up a mammoth 716 for nine at the Cricket Club of India yesterday.
Usama, son of former Mumbai Ranji player Zulfiqar, sorely missed his mother. "When I scored my ton, I wished she was around to watch me like other parents come for their kids. She came to watch me once when I had started playing inter-school cricket. My mother was keen that I play for India after my father took early retirement. I want to fulfill her wish," an emotional Usama said.
Rizvi's tailender Danish Mansoori scored a quickfire 81 not out to put on 51 runs alongwith Salman Khan (20 not out) in the last 10 overs. Onkar Jadhav claimed three for 176 for VN Sule.
